Russian School and Social Club "ClubOK" in Sheffield

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to “ClubOK”, first Russian School in Sheffield for children from 1 up to the age of 12.

The Club (also called Russian School) is held every Saturday from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm at St. Stephen’s church, Fawcett Street, Sheffield, S3 7PL.

Most children attending the group have at least one Russian speaking parent, but the School is open to anyone with children interested in the Russian language and culture.

The children are divided into 3 groups – the youngest group for children age 1.5 to 2.5 years old, preschoolers – age 2.5 to 4 and the older group for school-aged children.

The emphasis is on learning Russian through singing, rhymes, games, crafts and story telling. The older group are also introduced to reading and writing in Russian.

“ClubOK” Russian School not only exposes the children to the Russian language, but also to the culture and folklore of Russia. Particular importance is given to celebrating special occasions, such as New Year, Pancake Day, Women’s Day, Easter etc.

At the end of each session the three groups of children usually come together to play games, sing or act out a traditional folk story. The session ends with snacks and drinks and an opportunity for the adults, as well as the children, to socialise.

We look forward to seeing you and your child at our next session.
